Normally a 4 week probation period is used to see if you are suitable for the job over a few weeks (unless you do anything bad) but not so you can be fired on the spot of your first day. What I mean by this is that although I had signed a contract, the job wasn't mine yet. I was thrilled to find out that I had "got the job" for Urbanleaf, but realistically I had only got to round two of the interviews. Everyone is so diverse and from different - more. I am now a team leader and growing my own little “pretties” :) management here are so supportive and genuine and understanding and all round great, as are the other team members.

Yes, UrbanLeaf is small and that’s because not everyone has what it takes to proceed, but it is really simple! Be a genuine, positive person, be professional when you need to be and have a little magic with the public, simple. You have regular breaks and there is constant support at every minute of the day. You sit on a train for a long time laughing and having fun with a small team (some even silly enough to sit on their own coffee)!! I have the most fun on our journeys!! Yes the hours are long but to be fair, the most part of it feeling that long is the travelling. Please don’t think that you stand out in the rain all day, it really isn’t the case. It rains, your feet get wet, there’s the occasional dropped glove in a puddle, people ignore you BUT you will meet the most fantastic people and really gage what life is about. I am a mum of two, a graduate in psychology, no fundraising experience but I’ve always been outgoing and very confident. I applied thinking it would fill a gap, look great on my CV, help a good cause and also earn me some cash at the same time. This was not a career that I thought I’d be in for very long. I’ve been at UrbanLeaf for a few months now and thought it’s time to write a fair review as I’ve more than experienced all aspects and can honestly say. They stop for Christmas about a week that means unpaid holidays if you have not worked enough to be entitled for paid.

I would not suggest if you do not like competition, and feeling everyday you can be told is over. Some of the fundraisers are late for work still that does not seem to be a problem, but you might be on hold because of them and time means sign ups.

When you start make sure you can get sign ups on day one or two as you might get quickly discarded in particular if someone new comes and do more sign ups, make sure you make more sign ups as you are just a number and they do not give you the opportunity to develop any skills, they say there are no targets but they expect numbers they did not hired you for little results. I worked for this company a couple of days and honestly I had some good praise I was told I was good and got support but not intensive training, In my opinion the company invests little in training and expects you to perform quickly in one or two days of the job.
